Children's Work

Desiring to open the Bible and bring the loveliness of the Lord Jesus to children, within the congregation and the wider community, we undertake a weekly Sunday School and hold an annual Holiday Bible Club.

Sunday School - the children enjoy the first part of the morning service with the whole congregation, and during the 3rd hymn, move to their own meeting rooms for prayer, choruses, bible teaching, activity sheets and craft; they also learn a memory verse - all in a stimulating, safe environment.

Our age range is flexible but centres mainly on 3 to 10 year olds. Presently we use the 'Go Teach' syllabus - in its current form it is attractively presented and Bible centred. We aim to present the Saviour and the children's need of His salvation, gently and clearly in every lesson.

(A creche room with video link to the worship service is provided for parents with younger children)

Holiday Bible Club - In the autumn half term the club runs on 3 mid-week mornings, and has proved a tremendously enjoyable time for the children (and many parents). The age range is 4 to 11 (though younger siblings may stay if accompanied by a parent or designated carer).

Each morning is full of singing, colouring and puzzle sheets as well as taking part in plays, team games and colourful presentations of memory verses. The children enjoy refreshments and listen to a short gospel talk and each day build something lasting in a fun filled craft session.

Our aim is for the kids to have a great time and gain knowledge of Bible stories, characters and content. Wherever we begin in Scripture we always seek to draw them to the Lord Jesus. For example, in 2009 we looked at the life of Solomon, the 3 themes over the mornings were, 'Choosing the Best, Building with God, Making Mistakes'. What a privilege to point from Solomon to the King of Kings, the One who is Wisdom from God, the only Saviour!
